Skaeth’s Wild Hunt
Skaeth’s Wild Hunt are a mysterious band of worshippers of Kurnoth, the god of hunt, that are new to what we know about the Mortal Realms. Spiritual avatars of primal nature. They work tirelessly to protect the Beastgrave from those spreading the Katophrane curse.
Skaeth, the leader of the warband – excellent movement, a strong ranged attack covering almost the whole board. When Inspired, his Kicking Hooves gain Scything (a new term for attacks that target all adjacent enemies).
Karthaen – the spell-caster of the warband. His Hunting Horn grants re-rolls. Blow the Horn and then throw Skaeth’s javelin 🙂
Sheoch – fast and reliable melee fighter. Once Inspired, Sheoch gains Cleave and 3 Attack dice. Perfect for armoured enemies.
Althaen – suited for fast and slippery targets, or other enemies best dealt with at range.
Lighaen – the cat. Fast. When Inspired, Lighaen gains Ensnare (like Cleave, but for Dodge). Perfect for hunting down those last stragglers.
Skaeth’s Wild Hunt Tactics
The warband has speed and strike power, but are brittle. Caution and patience is the way. Pick off isolated opponents and use mobility to avoid counterattacks. Aim for early glory generation.
Gambits
A good mix of pushes and mobility manipulators.
- Strike In Concert – extra Damage support
- Pounce – a long-distance push for setting up Strike in Combat
- Retrieve Javelin – a second attempt at Skaeth’s javelin attack
Upgrades
- Fast Shot – useful with Althaen, to knock opponents onto lethal hexes
- Hunting Aspect – useful with Lighaen
- Kurnoth’s Mark – useful for protecting against counter-attacks when being aggressive
Objectives
- Kurnoth’s Snare – a simple surge to score
- Ritual Kill – maximise the glory from a slain enemy
- Hunt’s End – a hybrid objective – a new class of objective that can be scored when one of the two conditions on the card is met.
